Las Vegas, NV - November 18, 2002 - Kano Technologies (www.kanotechnologies.com), a new DVD+RW/R storage-solutions company, introduced its first product at COMDEX today. The K2EXTREME DVD+RW/R internal drive features award-winning NTI Backup NOW! Combo software, and is a complete solution for desktop backup and restore. Designed for system builders, it takes full advantage of the DVD+RW format and 4.7GB storage capacity. It can also record to CD media. A retail version of the drive will be available at a later date.
"The K2EXTREME fills the need for a robust, easy-to-use backup/restore solution based on DVD+RW/R technology," said Richard Young, president of Kano. "DVD+ is ideal for backing up desktop or networked hard drives for several reasons. It has a huge 4.7GB capacity per DVD disc. In addition, DVD+RW/R drives offer 'defect management', a feature that provides more reliable data backup than any other rewritable format."
"We completed an extensive qualifying program before we selected NTI Backup NOW! Combo for the K2EXTREME," Young continued. "We chose Backup NOW! for several reasons. It is extremely easy to use, and it is feature-rich with a wide array of backup choices to meet virtually every user's needs. In fact, it's the only software that provides full-image backup and specific-file backup to CD or DVD."
The K2EXTREME drive is manufactured in an ISO9001:2000 facility. It comes complete with ATAPI cable, audio cable, drive mount screws, DVD+R and DVD+RW media, and an instruction manual. Suggested retail price is $399 and it will be available from D&H Distrbuting (www.dandh.com) in December.
